J_StabCreate¶
J_StabEdit¶
Create and edit stabs
Stabs are helpful objects used to represent punches. This command allows you to add a series of these stabs to the model parametrically.
Find it in: JPattern Design sidebar
Steps¶
- Select the target curve you want to add the stabs to or select the stab you want to edit
- Select a method and fill in the options that are given. Click Ok (or press space) to confirm
Options¶
Method¶
- Distance based: select this method if the distance between the Stabs is the parameter that you want to control
- Number based: select this method if the Number of Stabs is the parameter that you want to control
Distance from¶
- Distance from start (shortcut: W): the distance, calculated from the start of the curve, from where the stabs series will begin
- Distance from end (shortcut: E): the distance, calculated from the end of the curve, where the stabs series will finish
- Use half distance: block the start/end distances to be half of the distance between each pattern repetition (only for number based mode)
- You can also pick the start/end points on the curve using the corresponding buttons
Stab property¶
- Offset value: the offset value is the distance from the target at which the stabs series will be created
- Radius: radius of each stab
- Flip button (shortcut: T): if you are using an offset, use flip to move the stabs to the opposite side of the curve
J_StabConstrainedCreate¶
Create stabs on a constrained curve
Stabs are helpful objects used to represent punches. This command allows you to add a series of these stabs to the model parametrically, on a set of segments, with two optional intersections that constrain them;
Find it in: Stab cascade toolbar
Steps¶
- Create the curve where the stabs will be placed by creating a constrained chain, using the same steps from J_ConstrainedChainCreateLegacy
- Create the stabs selecting a method and filling in the options that are given.
- Click Ok (or press space) to confirm
Options¶
See J_StabCreate options.
J_StabFreeCreate¶
Create stabs anywhere in the model
Stabs are helpful objects used to represent punches. This command allows you to add a stab anywhere.
Find it in: Stab cascade toolbar
Steps¶
- Pick a point in the model. This will be the center of the stab
- Choose the radius and click Ok (or press space) to confirm
Notes¶
You can move the stab by dragging around its center
J_StabIntersectionCreate¶
Create stabs on the intersections between curves
Stabs are helpful objects used to represent punches. This command allows you to add a stab on the intersections between curves.
Find it in: Stab cascade toolbar
Steps¶
- Select the target curves. The stabs will be added on each intersection found between the selected curves
- Set the option in the windows that shows up
- Click Ok (or press space) to confirm
Options¶
- Radius: radius of each stab
- Offset: the offset is the distance from the intersections from which the stabs will be positioned
- Flip button (shortcut: T): if you are using an offset, use flip to change the direction of the offset
Remarks¶
- You can choose only one line; the stabs will be added on its self-intersections.
- If you are using an offset, the stabs move along the target curves
J_StabConvert¶
Convert to free stabs one or more stabs which depend on a curve
Find it in: Stab cascade toolbar
Steps¶
- Select a group of stabs which depend on a curve
- The stabs are converted to intersection based stabs (if lying on the parent curve with a zero offset) or to free stabs.
