Import an image file as background trace image

Use this command to import any image file and align it with the existing model

Find it in: JPattern Design toolbar

Steps

  • Choose the image file to use
  • Click two points in the image. You can use the mouse wheel (or press +/-) to zoom and arrow keys to navigate
  • Click two points in the Rhino document you are creating. The image will be scaled and rotated to make these points match with the previously picked image points

or

  • Choose the image file to use
  • Click one point in the image and press OK
  • Click one point on the model and the image is scaled 1:1 and aligned in that position

or

  • Choose the image file to use
  • Click on OK, the center of the image will be selected
  • Click one point on the model and the image is scaled 1:1 and aligned in that position

After importing the image, the Image Management dialog allows the user to:

  • Hide/show an image by clicking on the checkbox in the related row
  • Set the image transparency
  • Remove the image
  • Replace the imgae
  • Try to detect curves by clicking the Autotrace button: curves and lines on the image are detected and added to the model
