J_NotchCreate¶
J_NotchEdit¶
Create and edit a notch
Notches are helpful objects used to store building information into the pattern itself. This command allows you to add these notches to the model parametrically.
Find it in: JPattern Design sidebar (
J_NotchCreate
) or Edit Entity cascade menu on JPattern Design toolbar (J_NotchEdit
)
Steps¶
- Select the target curve you want to add the notch to or select the notch you want to edit
- Fill in the options that are given and click Ok (or press space) to confirm
Options¶
General¶
- Width: width of the notch
- Height: height of the notch
- Type: different shape of notches available
- Flip (shortcut: T): move the notch to the opposite side of the curve (also switching from parent to intersecting object if the notch is intersection-based)
Distance based¶
- Distance: Actual distance from the end of the curve
- From start/end: switch the end from which the distance is calculated
- Pick on the curve (shortcut: R): select on the curve the position where to put the notch
Intersection based¶
- Select intersecting curve (shortcut: E). This allows to select another curve to use as intersecting object to determine the notch's position
- Normal notch: Notch geometry is orthogonal to the base curve geometry
Remarks¶
Please beware that selecting one of the options in the intersection or in the distance group will automatically switch the notch to distance based or intersection based. The notch can be then further edited if you are not satisfied with the result.
J_NotchMulti¶
Create a series of notches on a curve
Notches are helpful objects used to store building information into the pattern itself. This command allows you to add a series of these notches to the model parametrically.
Find it in: Notch cascade toolbar
Steps¶
- Select the target curve where you want to add the notches
- Fill in the options that are given.
- Use Pick on the curve and Select intersecting curve button to add multiple notches to the curve.
- click Ok (or press space) to confirm
Options¶
General¶
- Width: width of the notch
- Height: height of the notch
- Type: different shape of notches available
- Flip: move the notches to the other side of the curve (also switching from parent to intersecting object if the notches are intersection-based)
Distance based¶
- Pick on the curve: select on the curve the position where to put the notch
Intersection based¶
- Select intersecting curve. This allows to select another curve to use as intersecting object, to determine the notch's position.
- Normal notch: Notch geometry is orthogonal to the base curve geometry.
